I Am The Site Director At College Track Oakland - 858 Words

1. I am the Site Director at College Track Oakland. College Track (CT) is a college access and completion program designed to help students from under-resourced communities graduate from high school and successfully transition into and graduate from college. College Track actively engages students over the course of eight years, from the summer before high school through college graduation. We do so by offering a variety of programs in our four core program areas: Academic Affairs, Student Life, College Affairs, and College Success. College Track students embody such characteristics as self-accountability, intellectual curiosity, humility, self-respect, respect for others and a willingness to strive constantly towards self-improvement. Motivation and work ethic are essential qualities in order to benefit from the services College Track provides. Lemlem has been actively involved with College Track since the start of her junior year in high school. She comes to the center three to four times per week for several hours of tutoring, enrichment, and college prep work. Though most students start the program during their freshmen year, Lemlem got a late start. Being a mature student, she realized that she could not fully commit to the program and did not want to take a spot from another student. Consequently, she did not apply to the program until she could fully participate in the program. 2.
